Vaulta has been recognised for its commitment to sustainability and circularity at the Lord Mayor’s Business Awards, held at Brisbane City Hall on Friday, October 20.
Now in their 18th year, the Lord Mayor’s Business Awards showcase and celebrate excellence, success and innovation in Brisbane’s business community.
Ten companies and two business leaders were awarded for their contributions to Brisbane at this year’s ceremony, representing industries as diverse as robotics, biosecurity and the performing arts.
Vaulta took home the coveted Urban Utilities Environmental Sustainability in Business Award, acknowledging excellence in clean business practices and sustainable resource use, including energy, waste, water and recycling.
Vaulta founder and CEO Dominic Spooner said that while his team isn’t motivated by awards, it was particularly meaningful for the company’s commitment to sustainability to be recognised.
“Vaulta’s circular approach has always been our calling card and our point of difference,” founder and CEO Dominic Spooner said. “We’re working towards a sustainable future, where resources are utilised efficiently, waste is minimised, and environmental impact is reduced.

Driven by a desire to make batteries more efficient, cost-friendly and sustainable, Vaulta uses advanced composite materials and smart, streamlined design to make high-performance batteries that are easy to assemble and disassemble, which means they can be reused, repaired and recycled as needed.
In 2022, after years of research and development, Vaulta began utilising its patented battery casing technology to manufacture complete battery energy storage systems (BESS) for residential and commercial applications.
Vaulta also received a Special Mention for the Accenture Australia Product Innovation Award, which honours game-changing companies operating in Brisbane that have developed nationally or globally competitive products, processes or services.
All of Vaulta’s batteries are designed, assembled and tested locally in Brisbane.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said this year’s awards ceremony celebrated the unwavering pursuit of innovation and creativity in the Brisbane business community.
“The 2023 awards once again recognise world-class innovators and change-makers who are driving Brisbane’s economic future,” he said.
“Their dedication to sustainability, growth, and community impact is inspiring, and showcases the immense talent of individuals and organisations within our city.
“These awards are a way for our city to recognise the unwavering commitment of our business network in curating an environment where innovation, technology, creativity, and sustainability shine.
“As we look ahead to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, I’m confident that the businesses we celebrate today will play a pivotal role in shaping a brighter, more sustainable future for Brisbane.”
Vault’s win at the Lord Mayor’s Business Awards comes hot on the heels of the Australian Good Design Awards Ceremony in September, where the company was presented with the Gold Award for Excellence in Engineering Design.
