Vaulta Powers Up As Team Expands

Written by Vaulta | 27 Jul 2023

Fueled by demand for its products and an influx of funding, Vaulta has expanded its team rapidly in 2023, with seven new staff members joining the Brisbane-based battery casing technology company.

Led by Founder and CEO Dominic Spooner, Vaulta uses advanced composite materials and smart, streamlined design to make high-performance batteries that are easy to assemble and disassemble.

“Vaulta’s mission is to eliminate battery waste,” Dominic says. “Vaulta’s no-weld design preserves the structural integrity of battery cells. This means batteries can be repaired, reused and recycled, saving them from being lost to landfill.”

In 2022, after years of research and development, Vaulta began utilising its patented battery casing technology to manufacture complete battery energy storage systems (BESS) for residential and commercial applications.

“Vaulta is still scaling up,” Dominic says, “but we’re already winning projects away from much larger companies, because our clients know that battery waste is going to be a major issue in the near future.”

In 2023, with demand for its products growing rapidly and customers ranging from small and medium-sized enterprises to multinational giants, Vaulta received a $750,000 injection of funds from ASX-listed clean energy investment firm ReNu Energy.

The funds invested by ReNu Energy have provided Vaulta with the capital to scale its manufacturing capability, and relocate to a dedicated facility in the Brisbane suburb of Northgate at the ARM (Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing) Hub.

ReNu Energy’s investment has also enabled Vaulta to expand its team significantly, with seven new staffers joining the team so far this year.

“Because of the significant demand we were seeing for our new product line, we needed staff to finalise our product development and meet production requirements,” Dominic says.

“We’ve added a mix of skills and experience in supply chain management, engineering and testing, assembly and administration.

“Essentially, this completes Vaulta’s transformation from a predominantly R&D-focused operation to a manufacturer, which has been our goal for some time.”

All of the Vaulta team are based in Brisbane, and the company’s batteries are all designed, assembled and tested locally.

With the company continuing to grow its domestic and international sales, and with the simple, modular design of its battery casing giving it the flexibility to move into a variety of battery types – including EVs, aerospace, wearables and beyond – Dominic says he expects the Vaulta team to expand further soon.

“It’s likely we’ll add another two to three members to the Vaulta team in the next few months,” he says. “Watch this space.”
